Premium Passenger Car Batteries – FAQs

What is a premium car battery?

A premium car battery is a higher-performance automotive battery designed to deliver greater reliability, longer lifespan, and stronger electrical performance than standard batteries.

How long does a premium car battery last?

While your average car battery lasts between 3 and 5 years, premium batteries are designed for longer lasting performance. These higher-performance batteries can typically last between 4 to 7 years, but its actual lifespan will largely depend on usage, climate and maintenance.

How often should I check my premium car battery?

You should always check your car battery regularly to ensure it remains in good working health and continues to deliver reliable performance. For passenger vehicles, we’d recommend having your battery tested every 6 months.

How do I know if I need a regular battery or a premium battery for my passenger vehicle?

If your vehicle has start-stop technology, complex charging systems, or a high number of electrical features, a premium battery is usually recommended. A regular battery may be sufficient for older or less complex vehicles with basic electrical needs and no start-stop function.

Can I use a regular battery in my start/stop vehicle?

No, using a regular flooded lead-acid battery in a start/stop vehicle is not recommended. Start/stop systems demand special batteries that can handle frequent engine restarts and repeated charge/discharge cycles while still powering onboard electronics when the engine is off. Our premium battery range is better suited to the demands of start/stop passenger cars.
