Teewah Beach Campground at Great Sandy National Par

Where: The Great Sandy National Park can be found where the Toolara State Forest meets the Pacific Ocean, which is about a 2.5-hour drive from the city.
Highlights: The Great Sandy National Park is a nature lover’s paradise! Camp amongst towering sand dunes, hit the surf, dip in a freshwater lake, kayak or canoe along the Noosa River, or check out the park’s abundance of beach and inland 4WD trails!
The Teewah Beach Campground offers seven beachfront campsites in the Cooloola Recreation Area. The camping area can be reached by taking the Noosa River Ferry from Tewantin, and you will need a high clearance 4WD vehicle to get there (4WD camper trailers and caravans are permitted).
If you’re looking to get further off the beaten track, there are also a number of camping spots located along the Noosa River that can only be accessed by kayak or canoe.

Noosa North Shore Camping Grounds

Where: The Noosa Beach camping grounds can be reached by taking the Noosa River Ferry from Tewantin or via the many inland and beach 4WD trails that extend between Noosa River and Double Island Point. The campground is also accessible by 2WD vehicles.
Highlights: This secret slice of wilderness is the ideal camping destination for those wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of Noosa’s Main Beach.
The Noosa Beach North Shore camping site has over 90 powered and unpowered sites and plenty of activities to keep you entertained during your stay. Whether it be bushwalking, surfing, fishing, or simply soaking in the sun from this spectacular stretch of beach – this campsite is a pleaser!

Ocean Beach Campgrounds at Bribie Island

Where: Located just south of the Sunshine Coast, the Ocean Beach campground sits upon the northern tip of Bribie Island.
Highlights: The Ocean Beach campsite is a great spot for fishing, boating, bushwalking, swimming or exploring the infamous ruins of Fort Bribie.
Just 34 km in length, Bribie Island is the smallest of the three sand islands in Moreton Bay, which means the island is also a great location for off-road driving, with most of the island’s beaches accessible by 4WD.

Elanda Point Camping Grounds

Where: While this campsite is not technically located on a beach, it is well worth a mention! Why? Because, it sits upon the shores of the Noosa Everglades – just one of two Everglades systems in the world, located about an hour away from the CBD.
Highlights: What makes the Noosa Everglades even more special is that it’s the only Everglades system that you can safely swim in!
Surrounded by glistening waterways and dense bushland, is the Habitat HQ eco-camp which features a range of facilities to suit any camper, including:

If you’re looking for extra comfort on your road trip, Sunshine Coast Council has a range of beachfront holiday parks offering both powered and unpowered sites for camper trailers, caravans and tents (as well as cabins if you need a little break from the outdoors).
Most of the parks are located a short walk from local cafes and restaurants, as well as offering boat ramp access and entertainment for the kids.
