Movie motors: five of the most iconic movie cars

The list of iconic movie cars we want to own are as countless as 20 years’ worth of Home and Away characters. So rather than attempting to count them, we’ve picked out five from a list that won’t stop growing.

From the novel to the downright cool, here are five iconic movie cars worth owning – and five movies worth watching!

5.The Shaggin’ Waggon – Dumb and Dumber

We’re obviously beginning with the novel. Shaped like a giant sheep dog, the ‘Shaggin’ Waggon’ from Dumb and Dumber takes custom design to a whole new level, complete with fur exterior and all the doggy trimmings. Harry and Lloyd’s 1984 Ford Econoline has more bark than bite, but they don’t mind; they’re just happy to have a company car

Beautiful, isn’t it?

4.Bullitt’s Mustang – Bullit

Bullitt’s Mustang, from the movie, you guessed it – Bullitt, is one sweet looking ride. Arguably one of the coolest movies of our time, Steve McQueen and the 1968 Ford Mustang GT390 Fastback are the perfect couple.

Two identical Mustangs were used for filming the iconic chase scene; one was scrapped after filming, and one is rumored to be living out its days in an old barn in Ohio.

3. Starsky’s Gran Torino – Starksy and Hutch

Starsky’s Gran Torino is as iconic as they come. Featuring mag wheels and a custom paint job, the red 1976 Ford Gran Torino from the 2004 Starsky and Hutch is one hot rod that’s not likely to be forgotten anytime soon.

2.Aston Martin – James Bond

A car almost as popular as his tag line and martini swilling habits- James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5 is a slick machine. More recognizable than the Bond actors and armed to the hilt, the smoke screens, ejector seats, radar tracking system, machine gunned, revolver license plated 1963 Aston Martin DB5 can be spotted in six different Bond movies – and with four different James Bonds.

1.De Lorean – Back to the Future

A clear winner of the most iconic movie cars. The focal point of the Back to the Future movie series, Doc Brown’s beloved 1981 De Lorean DMC-12 is a car to be reckoned with. Featuring a flux capacitor, remote control, hover conversion and Mr. Fusion generator, this time travelling auto-gem invented by everyone’s favorite eccentric doctor is welcome in our garage anytime.
